Stockton, California is at the heart of San Joaquin County right between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada Mountains providing a Mediterranean-type climate and close proximity to endless activities.  Yet o
ne doesn’t have to go far to enjoy living in Stockton.  The Stockton Port is just one of the many scenic waterways that the area showcases. You can go kayaking for the day, skiing or sailing; Stockton offers a lifestyle of diversity and variety.  You can walk the promenade at the Stockton Marina just for a peaceful time of reflection, or catch a movie in the IMAX theater at the Weber Point Event Center.  If sports are more your style, you can see the Stockton Ports play a baseball game (also at Weber Point) or see a Stockton Thunder hockey game.

A favorite pastime for many Stocktonians is paying regular visits to the historic Haggin Museum.  The exhibits are ever changing and there are opportunities to attend events there as well.  The museum sits right in the center of Victory Park, another scenic and historic part of the city.  Surrounded by homes built around the 1920’s, you can jog the park or take the kids and feed the ducks that live in the pond there.

If you want to branch out a bit, you can go wine tasting in Lodi, or even just take a drive through the country that lies all around Stockton and see the vineyards and local agriculture. Don’t miss the Farmer’s Market for fresh organic local produce!  And you can always scoop up great bargains at the Flea Market or one of the many thrift stores in town! Hit the historic Miracle Mile for antique shopping and other treats!  Not far down the way you have the Weberstown Mall and the Sherwood Mall for all your shopping needs!

There’s always something to do.  Check out a car show or take a trip into Pixie Woods with the family.  Of course you’ll want to visit the annual Asparagus Festival and the County Fair for fun, food and live music.  Comedians and other live shows can be found at the Bob Hope Theatre. The Stockton Civic Theatre is the best place to go for live theatre if you want to see a play.

University of the Pacific is another great place to look for entertainment, and San Joaquin Delta College has its Planetarium, art museum, and sports arena as well.  Stockton has a lot to offer and it’s the sense of community among its residents that keeps it an “All American City.”
