Manteca~ The Family City Manteca is south of Stockton and north of Modesto. It's a neighbor to Tracy, Lathrop, Ripon, and Escalon. Manteca is home to approximately 68,000 people in San Joaquin County in the bountiful California Central Valley. Conveniently located between Interstate 5 and the 99 Freeway, it is easily accessible, and because of the State Route 120 bypass portion, Manteca is a good place to live in order to work in the Bay Area, yet escape the high cost of living there.
Manteca is another great California town where residents can enjoy the coveted climate, the diverse population, and the active California lifestyle. In Manteca, Tidewater Bikeway is a paved bicycle path located almost in the center of Manteca extending from the northern end of the city to the middle of town. It used to be a railroad. There are stops for water and benches along the way. This is a nice attraction to walkers, joggers and cyclists. You can get off the path at any of the major intersections to get to Main Street within just a few blocks. There are parks and baseball fields within a few steps of the Bikeway. Its a lovely part of the Manteca landscape. There are lots of things you can do in Manteca thanks to the many independent businesses that call this place home. Check out Manteca Park Golf Course, StrikeZone International (bowling), Pump It Up (basically a bouncy obstacle course for kids), Big League Dreams Sports Park, Funakoshi Fitness, or Cortez Martial Arts Academy. There are fun restaurants to visit here and many little shops that are just gems to find! Even the names of the businesses here are a good time. From The Rusty Hook bar to Rooster Juice bar and grill, to the Mangy Moose Café, you have to get the impression that Manteca has a sense of humor about itself. “Mangy Moose Café is worth the drive from the East Bay! You get great breakfast omelets served in a cozy restaurant, by very attentive staff. It’s fun to watch your breakfast being made from four feet away! It’s not expensive and the portions are huge!” ~ Kellee Dankiewicz, REALTOR®, Manteca Trivia fact - Manteca, (which is Spanish for lard) was not named that way on purpose. It turns out that was a spelling error that the original railroad made and later the town just adopted it! It was actually supposed to be named Monteca! Oh well! Have fun in Manteca!
