Lathrop, California is a smaller town in San Joaquin County just 70 miles east of San Francisco that neighbors Stockton, Manteca, and Tracy where Interstate 5 and the 120 intersect.
Lathrop has a population of about 18,000 people within its 23 square miles. It is such a family friendly place to live. The Parks and Recreation Department have lots of choices for kid’s classes and a teen center to keep everybody busy. The popular spot for the under 10 crowd is the Go Bananas indoor playground with jumps and slides and climbing walls.
Right off the I-5 is the Ghirardelli Factory Outlet & Ice Cream Shop where chocolate is made in every shape and size and you can enjoy it in a quiet setting with some old fashioned ice cream. Chocoholics come from miles around to partake of the decadent goodness.
Another big attraction is the famous Dell’Osso Family Farms! Make memories in their petting zoo, corn maze, haunted house, ropes course, zip lines, and take the Mystery Tour Ride or “Walk the Plank.” Some attractions are seasonal, such as the snow tubing and Christmas light show, but some are year round and you can visit there any time for major fun and frolicking.
There is plenty in Lathrop for the non-family adults as well. Yes, Lathrop even has good sushi. University of Phoenix has a campus here as well as ITT Technical Institute. Eagle’s Nest Harley Davidson is a popular place for motorcyclists, and on a nice summer day visit TT’s Haven Acres Marina Bar & Grill. It’s right on the San Joaquin River and you’ll love the patio at happy hour!
